Intervention Framework
Emerson House provides three distinct support frameworks tailored to the diagnostic profile of each child and their specific requirements:
- Multidisciplinary Intervention Blocks: Our core 3-hour Sessions cover the three foundational domains with a bespoke, connected journey of support.
- Individual Specific Intervention: Bespoke 1:1 support with an SpLD Expert in a fully flexible format.
- Technical Skills Groups: Group-based sessions focusing on core skills for children to gain technical and practical skills during after-school or out of school term time support.
Whichever framework is utilized, our SpLD experts provide a nurturing, low-arousal environment. All our practitioners are specially qualified to provide remediation for children with SEND. Many have professional backgrounds in Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, or specialist primary/secondary support. They are dedicated to providing the intervention necessary for children to overcome barriers to learning.
Multidisciplinary Intervention Blocks (The ‘3-Hour Sessions’)
Comprehensive support to unlock cognitive potential
Our core framework is the
3-Hour Intervention Session, scheduled during morning or afternoon periods.
During these Sessions, children receive intensive, targeted remediation in Literacy, Assistive Technology (Touch Typing), and Numerical Cognition.
Each child follows a bespoke intervention plan designed to provide the specific skills and self-confidence required to access their mainstream school curriculum on a level footing with their peers.
We interact with children in individualised study spaces and specialist rooms equipped with multi-sensory cognitive materials. Our dedicated Assistive Technology space features eight ergonomic workstations for digital literacy remediation.
Timings:
Morning Sessions conclude at 12:15 pm, allowing children to return to their primary schools for the afternoon.
Afternoon Sessions conclude at 4:30 pm.
Most children attend Emerson House for at least two sessions per week. This supplementary support is coordinated in alignment with the wishes of parents and the child’s school.
Collaborative Resilience & Peer Modeling
We believe that a child’s emotional well-being improves through positive interaction. During transition periods and breaks, we foster a sense of community and shared purpose. Furthermore, we carefully pair children for literacy and numerical sessions to facilitate peer modeling and optimize the remediation experience.
"Children support each other effectively, sharing in the progress and success of their peers." (CReSTeD Professional Audit)
Individual Consultations & Technical Skills Groups
Based on the child’s initial diagnostic appraisal, we provide 1:1 Individual Consultations as well as small-group Technical Skills clubs.
One to one Consultations: These focused sessions can target specific processing goals and are held at our premises or via our secure online consultation platform.
Technical Skills Programmes: We facilitate Assistive Technology (Touch Typing) skills clinics for up to 8 children with 2 SpLD Experts with after-school sessions during term periods and during school half-term and holiday periods to provide consistent support.
